Structural design at AI speed.
Without the guesswork.

MakeBuildingPro is a Grasshopper workflow for Rhino 8 where your building lives as one source of truth. AI edits it through managed tools — never freehand — and every change is validated, approved and audit-logged. Drawings, quantities, analysis models and Speckle versions all derive from the source, one way. Nothing drifts.

One source of truth — four steps

1 Start

Office, 5F, 4x3, cut:NE 1x1

One line bootstraps the building as structured data — grids, levels, catalogs, layouts, loads. Rule-based and instant: no AI, no API key. Refine it in spreadsheet-style editors, or in Excel itself.

2 Derive

The 3D model, the centerline analysis model, framing plans, sections and quantity takeoffs are all derived from that one source. Change the data — everything regenerates in seconds. Artifacts can't drift apart, because there's nothing to drift from.

3 Edit with AI — without the guesswork

Claude Desktop, Cursor and Cline connect through the bundled MCP server — a single executable, no Node.js, 51 schema-shaped tools. The AI can only act through those tools, never freehand: a hallucinated edit that doesn't fit the schema or the rules simply doesn't land. Every change is validated like a human edit, approved by you (unchecked by default), and audit-logged.

4 Send & version

Publish snapshots to Speckle — each send becomes a version — and continue in Revit, Tekla, ETABS, GSA, SAP2000 or Midas. Export IFC4, or round-trip the source through Excel, CSV and JSON. Outputs flow one way; decisions come back, data doesn't.

One source of truth

Buildings are data first; everything else is a derived snapshot. Models, drawings and quantities can never disagree — and design changes stop being scary.

AI without the guesswork

Schema-guided, validated, approved. AI may make mistakes — so nothing lands silently, and there's even a tool that reports how often you rejected its proposals. Trust is measured, not assumed.

Your work leaves a trail

Per-change approvals, audit logs, versioned snapshots. As the industry shifts from BIM to Information Management (ISO 19650's revision is underway), the evidence is already a byproduct of how you work.

Built by someone who does this for a living

I'm panna3d — a structural BIM engineer based in Japan. I built MakeBuildingPro because early-phase structural modelling is mechanical work that shouldn't consume a designer's week. It ships weekly, and the roadmap is driven by what real projects need.

FAQ

Does it run on Mac?

No — Rhino 8.9+ on Windows only, for now. Mac interest is tracked; tell us at support@makebuildingpro.com.

Do I need an AI subscription or API key?

No. The one-line generator is rule-based and works offline from any AI service. Optionally: the AI Building Generator uses your own OpenAI / Anthropic / Google key, and the MCP server works with the AI client you already use (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Cline).

Does the AI hallucinate?

Sometimes — every LLM can. The point is that a hallucinated edit can't land silently: the AI only acts through schema-shaped tools, validation catches rule violations, and nothing is applied until you approve it. You can even measure your own rejection rate.

Where does my data live?

On your machine, as plain .mbp.json / Excel / CSV files. No telemetry. When you choose to use AI features, prompts are sanitized (confidential project metadata stripped) and you see a cost preview before every call.

Do I need Speckle?

Only for Speckle export. Everything else — modelling, drawings, IFC, Excel — works without it.

Can it import IFC or Revit models?

Not currently. MakeBuildingPro is designed as the start of a workflow: generate structured data first, then push it downstream via Speckle/IFC. Excel, CSV and JSON round-trip in both directions.

Is this a structural analysis or code-compliance tool?

No. It's a design-assistance tool for early phases. Loads are editable placeholders — verify all results with qualified professionals and run code checks in your analysis software.

Who is behind this?

A solo developer (panna3d) — see above. Support: support@makebuildingpro.com (best-effort, within 48 hours).

Install in two minutes

  1. In Rhino 8, open Tools → Package Manager
  2. Search “MakeBuildingPro” → Install → restart Rhino
  3. Open Grasshopper — find the MakeBuildingPro tab, drop Generate Building Information on the canvas, and type: Office, 5F, 4x3
